On July 16, 2026, the STA Board of Directors adopted a new Community Van pilot program, creating a partnership-based transportation service to help connect people whose mobility needs are not met by regular buses or Rideshare service. Through the pilot, STA will provide passenger vans that are operated by trained staff or volunteers from approved nonprofit and community-based organizations, improving access to essential services for people with disabilities, low-income residents, and others facing transportation barriers.

STA will oversee partner eligibility and approval, vehicle management, and program performance, evaluating the pilot’s community impact, ridership, and operational success.

The pilot directly supports Connect 2035 by advancing the plan’s goal to collaborate with community partners and improve quality of life across the region. Input gathered from nonprofit organizations during program development, along with performance data collected throughout the pilot, will help guide future improvements and potential expansion of the program.
